Disturbing New Serial Killer Film Released A Trailer That Looks Creepy AF
Jeffrey Dahmer (also known as the ‘Milwaukee Cannibal’) murdered and dismembered 17 men and boys in the US between the years of 1978 and 1991. This biographical drama will tell the story of how he grew up to become such a notorious killer.
The upcoming film My Friend Dahmer is based on a graphic novel of the same name, written by a John Backderf – a cartoonist from Ohio. Based on John’s experiences as a teenager, it tells the real-life tale of his friendship with Jeffrey Dahmer back in high school.
The novel explores Dahmer descent into a life of savage butchery, and how his personal experiences may have shaped his treacherous fate.
Disney actor Ross Lynch will be starring as Dahmer, whilst Alex Wolff will take on the role of John Backderf (known in the film as Derf). Popular nineties actress Anne Heche will also star in the film, taking on the gripping role of Joyce Dahmer.
The story of Jeffrey Dahmer is sure to provide some chills, as his life was not necessarily a great one. Here is a short summary of who he was:
Known as a serial killer and sex offender, Dahmer committed rape, murder and dismemberment on males specifically. Many of his murders also involved necrophilia, cannibalism, and the preservation of body parts.
Despite being diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, schizotypal personality disorder and a psychotic disorder, Dahmer was found to be legally sane in court. Back in 1992, he was sentenced to life in prison for fifteen terms, but received his sixteenth term of life imprisonment when he was also convicted for a discovered homicide from 1978.
In 1994, Jeffery Dahmer was beaten to death by a fellow inmate in prison.
Whilst this film has been highly praised for the intricate detail it has paid to depicting Dahmer’s psychological deterioration, it actually isn’t the first to have been made in regards to his story.
Back in 1993, a film titled The Secret Life: Jeffrey Dahmer was made, with Carl Crew taking on the role of Dahmer. In 2002, a biopic named Dahmer had Jeremy Renner as the serial killer.
The 2006 film, Raising Jefferey Dahmer, focused on the journey of Jefferey’s parents after his arrest, and a 2012 documentary film named Jeff explored Dahmer’s life through interviews with a former neighbour, a Detective and the city medical examiner.
As many reviewers have stated, the film will definitely give you Bates Motel and Hannibal vibes. So if you’re intrigued by the twisted minds of Norman Bates and Hannibal Lecter, you’ll love this upcoming flick. Check out the trailer below:
After premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year, the film – described by Variety as “disturbingly compelling and original“- will get its release in November.
