Here's How The Pennywise Actor Perfected His Creepy Smile For 'IT'
In case you weren’t aware, Bill Skarsgård, the actor who portrays Pennywise in ‘IT’, is actually quite good looking in real life. From an angle, at least.
Bill is related to the absolute Adonis that we all know as Alexander Skarsgård (True Blood, The Legend of Tarzan, Big Little Lies) , so it doesn’t come as that much of a surprise that he inherited the hot Skarsgård gene.
And whilst being good-looking comes with it’s benefits, it doesn’t really help when you’re trying to portray a terrifying clown in a horror movie. So, when the time came for Bill to transform into Pennywise, he definitely had to implement some special techniques.
In a recent interview on US talk show, Conan, Bill Skarsgård revealed just how he perfected that iconic Pennywise smile.
“You have easily the most evil, demonic smile I think I’ve seen in all of horror,” the show host said, “Is that something you’ve been working on for a long time or did you come up with that when they approached you about playing Pennywise?”
In response, Bill revealed that he’d actually had a version of Pennywise’s smile stored away from quite a while ago, thanks to his childhood antics.
Check out his hilarious explanation in the clip down below:
No wonder why Pennywise’s smile is so effectively creepy – Bill Skarsgård has been working on it since he was ten years old …
