This Chilling 'Game Of Thrones' Fan Theory Perfectly Explains Bran's Odd Behaviour

Warning: this article contains not only spoilers from season seven of Game of Thrones, but also a fan theory that could wind up being a spoiler. If you want to go in blind, then leave now.

Since Bran Stark got back from his jaunt beyond the Wall, it’s fair to say that he’s been behaving strangely.

He’s completely devoid of emotion, he’s seriously lost the ability to read a room, and – quite frankly – he’s making everyone a little bit uncomfortable.

He claims that this is because he’s now the Three Eyed Raven, and can consequently see everything that’s ever happened, plus everything that ever will. Granted, that’s probably a burden, but this fan theory reckons that that’s not actually the whole story, and there’s something much more sinister at foot.

In the recent scene where Meera said goodbye to Bran (telling him “you don’t need me anymore”) he was so utterly cold and unfeeling that she lashed out, saying that he had “died” in that cave with the wights.

We had taken this as metaphorical – the Bran Stark we knew and tolerated is gone – but some have interpreted her words a little more literally. What if Bran Stark did actually die in the cave, and the old Three Eyed Raven (who we saw evaporate into a cloud of smoke) is now warged into his body?

It would explain why Bran keeps insisting that he’s not “Lord Stark”, and also why he’s showing so little emotion towards his sisters. Three Eyed Raven or not, you’d think he’d show at least some happiness to be back in Winterfell with his family, but he’s not so much as cracked a smile since arriving.

Of course, dead Bran isn’t the only theory here. Another fan has posited that Bran is behaving so strangely towards Sansa because he’s seen her future, and knows that she’s going to betray Jon Snow.

sansa

She does seem to disapprove of his decisions, and it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that – with Jon currently flirting with Daenerys at Dragonstone – she’ll revolt.
