'The Walking Dead' Stuntman Suffers Serious Injuries On Set
A Walking Dead stuntman has suffered serious head injuries on set, reportedly after losing his footing and falling 30 feet onto a concrete floor.
John Bernecker – who has also worked on Logan, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the upcoming Black Panther movie – was rushed to Atlanta Medical Centre, and is believed to be on life support, in intensive care.
AMC have released a statement, revealing that production on The Walking Dead has been suspended in light of this incident:
“We are saddened to report that John Bernecker, a talented stuntman for The Walking Dead and numerous other television shows and films, suffered serious injuries from a tragic accident on set. He was immediately transported to an Atlanta hospital, and we have temporarily shut down production. We are keeping John and his family in our thoughts and prayers.”
Actors and stunt performers SAG-AFTRA have also released a statement, revealing that they are investigating this matter:
“We have been informed of a serious injury to a SAG-AFTRA member on the set of The Walking Dead and are investigating the situation. As always, the safety and security of our members and others on set is of crucial concern to us and we are focused on this in our investigation. Our thoughts and prayers are with the performer and his family.”
Various members of the Walking Dead cast and crew have also tweeted their support to John:
