'Toy Story 4' Will Be A Romantic Comedy, According To Pixar President
Toy Story 4 is in the works and we officially cannot deal!
After the tear-jerking plot of ‘Toy Story 3′ (admit it, you totally cried during that part) , it seems almost too cruel for Disney Pixar to offer us another helping in the franchise. Yet, here we are.
The D23 expo offered up some juicy details on the upcoming fourth instalment, which, unfortunately, has lost a director, and (silver lining!) gained another.
Yes, John Lasseter (the original director of all three Toy Story films) will not be taking on the fourth film in the series. The role has been handed over to his previously announced co-director, Josh Cooley.
Now, whilst Josh doesn’t have many works underneath his directorial belt, he has made quite a splash in the world of animation over the years. He worked on the screenplay for ‘Inside Out‘ and has lended his quirky voice acting skills to some memorable roles in films such as ‘Up’.
In other words, ‘Toy Story 4’ is definitely in safe hands.
The film will see Tom Hanks and Tim Allen make a return as the characters Woody and Buzz Lightyear, whilst writers of the screenplay will include Rashida Jones and Will McCormack.
It has also previously revealed that the fourth instalment in the ‘Toy Story‘ franchise will be a romantic comedy, focusing on the relationship between Woody and Bo Peep. The toys will also find a new owner in a little girl named Bonnie, and gain a new paper-doll character by the name of Lulu.
‘Toy Story 4‘ is due to hit theatres on June 21st 2019.
