Sisqo Has Released A Sequel To 'The Thong Song' And We're Not Sure How To Feel About It
It feels like every old-school song is getting a remix these days – which isn’t necessarily a good thing. It’s almost like a nightmarish episode of Pimp my Ride, where these relatively new producers and DJs go around taking really old songs and pimping them into something so much worse. X- Zibit definitely wouldn’t approve, people.
And whilst we can all agree that Rihanna is flawless with DJ Khaled and Bryson Tiller on her new track ‘Wild Thoughts‘ – it can’t be denied that her song doesn’t hold a candle to the original 1999 tune ‘Maria, Maria‘ by Santa & The Product G&B.

A little bit of a diversion here, but let’s face it, even Power Rangers didn’t require a reboot either. Sometimes it’s best to just leave the classics alone.
Sisqo’s new remix of his 1999 classic The Thong Song proves that nothing is sacred. Not only did they ruin one of the best jams of all time, but they also presented us with a music video that’s clearly amiss of all his previous efforts. No perfectly choreographed dance routine? No human pyramid on the beach? No holographic dragon and glow-in-the-dark eye contacts? No lengthy dance break? Where is the respect, people? Where is the love?
Perhaps we’re alone in our disdain, but this poorly executed remix may signal a change in the times. With so many pop culture classics getting a 2017 reboot, it may just be a message to us millennials that we need to let go of the 90’s.
That might prove to be a difficult task, however, especially as the good old days were just so undeniably lit.
Check out the video for Sisqo’s thong song sequel and try not to cringe (or cry, whichever you prefer):
And if you’re completely ruined by that (don’t worry, we were too) – here’s the original to soothe your ear buds:
