R.Kelly Accused Of Holding Young Women Against Their Will In 'Abusive Cult'

50-year-old RnB singer, R. Kelly, has been accused of holding a group of young girls against their will, in what their parents have called an ‘abusive cult’.

According to Buzzfeed News, the parents of a young girl are desperate to get their daughter away from the singer. Their daughter was picked by R.Kelly due to her musical talent, however, her parents, identified as J. and Tim, have claimed that R.Kelly manipulates their daughter sexually.

She was 19-years-old at the time that she allegedly met R.Kelly, and is now aged 21. According to J., her daughter has moved in R.Kelly and they have not been able to see her since December 1, 2016:

“It was as if she was brainwashed. [She] looked like a prisoner — it was horrible. I hugged her and hugged her. But she just kept saying she’s in love and [R. Kelly] is the one who cares for her. I don’t know what to do. I hope that if I get her back, I can get her treatment for victims of cults. They can reprogram her. But I wish I could have stopped it from happening.”

Three women (Cheryl Mack, Kitti Jones, and Asante McGee) who were previously a part of R.Kelly’s inner circle have also agreed with the story. They say that R.Kelly allegedly has six women living in properties across Chicago and Atlanta, and he controls everything that they do (this includes where they go, what they eat, how they dress and when they bathe). He also reportedly records their sexual encounters and takes away the women’s phones to oversee their activities on social media. He allegedly also calls the women his ‘babies’ and forces them to call him ‘Daddy’.

R.Kelly’s previous personal assistant (Mack) who worked for him for almost two years has also corroborated the story. She says that the women allegedly under R.Kelly’s control initially think “this is R. Kelly, I’m going to live a lavish lifestyle [but] No. You have to ask for food. You have to ask to go use the bathroom. … [Kelly] is a master at mind control. … He is a puppet master.”

She also said that R.Kelly allegedly forces the women to wear jogging suits because “he doesn’t want their figures to be exposed; he doesn’t want them to look appealing.” If other men were present in the room, he would reportedly make the girls turn around and face the wall in their jogging suits because “he doesn’t want them to be looked at by anyone else.”

If the women break any of Kelly’s “rules,” he allegedly punishes them physically, amongst other ways.” Kitti Jones claims that, in the spring of 2013, R. Kelly held her against a tree and slapped her outside of a Subway sandwich shop, simply because she had been too friendly with the male cashier who worked there.

R.Kelly’s lawyer, Linda Mensch, has responded to the accusations outlined in Buzzfeed’s story.

“We can only wonder why folks would persist in defaming a great artist who loves his fans, works 24/7, and takes care of all of the people in his life,” Mensch wrote in the email. “He works hard to become the best person and artist he can be. It is interesting that stories and tales debunked many years ago turn up when his goal is to stop the violence; put down the guns; and embrace peace and love. I suppose that is the price of fame. Like all of us, Mr. Kelly deserves a personal life. Please respect that.”
