Netflix Announces New Animated Series From 'Simpsons' Creator Matt Groening

If you’ve binged all the TV that there is to binge, then this should come as good news.

Netflix have picked up 20 episodes of Disenchantment – the latest animated series from Futurama and Simpsons creator Matt Groening.

It’s a decidedly adult series (about “life and death, love and sex”), and will see viewers “whisked away to the crumbling medieval kingdom of Dreamland.”

“They will follow the misadventures of hard-drinking young princess Bean, her feisty elf companion Elfo, and her personal demon Luci. Along the way, the oddball trio will encounter ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools.”

In a statement, Groening said that this series was about “how to keep laughing in a world full of suffering and idiots, despite what the elders and wizards and other jerks tell you.”

The cast is pretty impressive. Abbi Jacobson (Broad City) voices Bean, while Nat Faxon (The Cleveland Show) plays Elfo, and Eric Andre (Rough Night) is Luci.

Futurama actors John DiMaggio, Billy West, David Herman and Maurice LaMarche (Bender,Fry, Scruffy and Morbo) will star, as will Simpsons actress Tress MacNeille (Agnes Skinner) and British comedians Matt Berry and Noel Fielding.

The first ten episodes of Disenchantment will drop onto Netflix in 2018.
