Man Trapped In ATM Machine Sends 'SOS' Notes Through Receipt Slot
There are several things you can ‘bank’ on when going to withdraw money from an ATM.
a) they’ll be a massive queue b) someone at the front will be dawdling about/moving millions of pounds between bank accounts and c) they won’t have any tenners left which is just a bit of a pain in the arse.
One thing you’d never expect to see though, is a man stuck in the actual machine, but that’s exactly what happened to one poor guy in Texas.
The unidentified contractor was called out to a closed branch of Bank of America to fix a lock on a door connected to the room behind the ATM.
Somehow he managed to lock himself in, and having left his phone in his truck, had to resort to sending out SOS messages through the receipt slot to people walking past.

The note read: “Please Help. I’m stuck in here, and I don’t have my phone. Please call my boss.”
The tone of the note seems pretty calm – I’m slightly claustrophobic so any note I’d write would be a little more panicked and contain a lot more swear words.
Many passers by though the note was a joke, but eventually, someone took the message seriously and alerted the police.
“We come out here, and sure enough we can hear a little voice coming from the machine,” said Officer Richard Olden of Corpus Christi Police, talking to WTOC. “So we are thinking this is a joke. It’s got to be a joke.”
He added: “He can’t get out. “He can’t call anybody because his phone is in his truck.”
The contractor was stuck in the ATM for about two hours before officers managed to kick in the door and free the man.
“Everyone is ok but you’ll never see this again in your life that somebody’s stuck in the ATM machine,” said Olden. “It was just crazy.”
It’s a pretty odd case for the police to have to deal with – on getting called out I bet they were literally laughing all the way to the bank.
