Ed Sheeran Has Quit Twitter After Getting Abuse From Trolls

Everyone’s favourite red-headed pop star, Ed Sheeran has announced he will no longer use the Tweet-machine after he got fed up of all the negativity.

His account, with a whopping 19.1 million followers, will remain open and active and presumably run by someone at Sheeran HQ, but it will not be monitored or used by Sheeran, other than to share Instagram posts.

While talking to The Sun after his Glastonbury headline on Sunday, the singer said:

“I’ve actually come off Twitter completely. I can’t read it. I go on it and there’s nothing but people saying mean things. Twitter’s a platform for that. One comment ruins your day. But that’s what I’ve come off it.

The head-f*** for me has been trying to work out why people dislike me so much.”

Sheeran’s final posts were about his Glastonbury performance, assuring the general public that he used a loop pedal and not a backing track, like he was accused of doing.

Ed Sheeran recently announced his 2018 stadium tour, with two dates in London at Wembley stadium, six dates in Ireland and even one show in Paris. Sheeran and his team have launched a battle against ticket touters, announcing that tickets for the tour can only be resold for the price they were bought for on one online platform – all other resold tickets will become invalid.

A statement from Sheeran’s team read: “Ed and his team have a strict stance against anyone using secondary ticketing websites for profit. On this tour, any tickets that are resold will not be valid unless they are bought and sold through Ed’s official resale partner, Twickets , which allows fan to fan sales at face value + booking fee only – this means no profit to touts and no one getting ripped off. On all the stadium dates you will be required to bring your tickets, booking confirmation and credit card, plus a valid form of ID or you will not be granted entry to the show.”
