'Annabelle: Creation' Has Scored A Staggering 100 On Rotten Tomatoes

We’re going to be brutally honest, and admit that we didn’t have high hopes for the upcoming Annabelle prequel.

While The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2 were both big hits, 2014 spin-off Annabelle was critically panned. Scoring a deplorable 29% on Rotten Tomatoes, it was called everything from “lazy”, to “bereft of ideas”, to “half-baked and dull.”

The news that it was getting a prequel, then, didn’t exactly thrill and excite us. But clearly we misjudged.

Annabelle: Creation, which is set to hit UK cinemas on the 11th August, is currently sitting on an impressive 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

It apparently “will be hard to top as the year’s most inventive and scariest film”, as some are even suggesting that it might be the best movie in the Conjuring universe yet…

Directed by David F. Sandberg (who also did last year’s Lights Out), it looks at what happens when a dollmaker and his wife invite a group of orphans to live with them, while they’re grieving the sudden and tragic death of their young daughter.

We’re going to take a wild guess, and say that Annabelle starts killing orphans…

As more reviews come in, it’s unlikely that Annabelle: Creation will be able to maintain its perfect 100% score, but the fact that it got there at all suggests that this movie is going to be bloody good…

Will you go see it? Let us know in the comments…
