This New Documentary About 'Pennywise' From 'IT' Looks Terrifying

If you can’t wait for the new IT film, why not watch a petrifying documentary about the infamous clown that brought the story to life? Yes, that’s right. Pennywise is getting his own documentary.

Tim Curry, the infamous actor who played the original Pennywise back in the 1990’s mini-series, will be giving us some spine-chilling insight into what it took to depict what might be the most horrifying clown in history.

Curry’s portrayal of Pennywise in the original “IT” TV series sparked a worldwide obsession with clowns, and just how scary they could actually be. Since the show’s release in 1990, killer clowns have since been solidified as symbols of the horror genre, and Tim Curry contributed massively to that cultural iconography.

In recognition of that contribution, fans of the film have come together to create a documentary named “Pennywise: The Story of IT“, which will give viewers a peak inside the world of Stephen King’s IT and Pennywise’s character, as well as the fear of clowns (coulrophobia).

Whilst the film has not received all the funding to be made just yet, production could soon be underway. According to their fundraising website, the documentary will assess the cultural impact that Pennywise had on the horror genre over the last 28 years:

“Supported by dozens of the original cast and crew including Tim Curry, Tommy Lee Wallace and Bart Mixon, Pennywise is made by fans of the IT for fans of IT. The crew have already received support from over 20 of the cast and crew, including acquiring over 2 hours of never-before-seen set footage from SFX wizard Bart Mixon, as well as loads of archival and behind-the-scenes photos and there is no doubt that by the time of production many more key players will be attached to share their amazing stories about one of the most iconic movies ever-made.”

The documentary has been called “a labour of love” and will pay homage to Tim Curry and, strangely enough, clowns as well.

So, if clowns give you nightmares – we would advise you not to watch this equally as terrifying trailer. Don’t say we didn’t warn you …
