Adele Snapped Her Grammy In Half So That She Could Share It With Beyoncé

Adele was the big winner at last night’s Grammys, claiming five awards, including album of the year,  song of the year, best pop vocal album and best pop solo performance.

Despite all of her success, Adele didn’t seem to think that she was particularly deserving.  During her acceptance speech she basically said that she thought Beyoncé should have won album of the year prize for Lemonade.

“I can’t possibly accept this award and I’m very humbled and I’m very grateful but the artist of my life is Beyoncé. This album to me, the Lemonade album was just so monumental and so well thought out and so beautiful and soul baring.

The way you make me and my friends feel, the way you make my black friends feel is so empowering. I love you. I always have and I always will.”

Watch the speech here, as you’ll see it moved Beyoncé to tears.

After the speech she broke her Grammy in half so that she could share it with Beyoncé. The gesture went down a storm on Twitter.

Beyoncé herself did pick up two awards, for best urban contemporary artist and best music video, but Adele’s huge success meant that she missed out on all of the major awards.
