Guy Takes On The System, Flies Around The World For Just $300
Fancy flying around the world for $300? Yep, so do we.
Sam Huang has just done exactly that by playing the system. It’s all pretty long winded, but to cut a long story short, he took out loads of credit cards with Bank America and acquired travel points on them (which equate to miles).
Bank America have an agreement with Alaska Airlines, and Alaska Airlines until recently had a lack of restrictions on the route he could take. They allow for nesting a layover, which basically means adding a stop in a city along the way, which he could do multiple times as long as the stop is no more than 24 hours.
“So I just started typing different city combinations. I nested a lot of 24-hour layovers — but [in the computer] it looks like Singapore to New York.”
Oh, and due to another loophole, he did it all first class. Lucky guy.
The annoying irony in all of this is that in order to get your super cheap flight, you need to earn enough to spend money on and pay off all of the credit cards each month.
Here’s the video from his trip. We’re not jealous, honestly.
