Student Banned From Class For Being Too Ginger
How dare she? Who does she think she is rocking up to class with her hair all…..ginger. Yes, this really happened.
Emily Reay has been told she can’t attend any more lessons until she dies her hair a more natural colour. This hardball ultimatum comes just two months before her A Level exams.
The strict disciplinarians are the staff at Trinity School in Carlisle, who made the decision when she returned from the Easter break.
Emily said: ‘When they told me I just burst into tears – I was so angry.
‘I’ve had the same colour for the past three years, and nobody at school has commented on it. Everyone knows me as that “young ginger singer.”
‘For me it is all about confidence. If I had to dye my hair brown, I would lose that.’
Emily’s mum, Julie, added: ‘The school’s uniform policy clearly states no unnatural hair colours, like blue or green. Is ginger not a natural hair colour? It’s like living in the Victorian times.’
Emily doesn’t want to ruin her education and says she will return to school with her hair pinned up.
The head of the sixth form, Mr Winter, made a statement saying: ‘We have a policy of maintaining high standards. All sixth form students are issued with information about what is acceptable or unacceptable at the start of the academic year.’
‘The vast majority of parents are very keen on our high standards.’
You tell ’em Mr Winter, keep those gingers out!
If you must….
What do you think, are the school being ridiculous? Or should Emily just except it and conform.
