This short documentary tells the story of Marie Wilcox, the last fluent speaker of the Wukchumni language and the dictionary she created in an effort to keep her language alive.

Imagine being the only one! It has it’s benefits of course, like being able to call absolutely anyone a douche and get away with it. On the flipside, imagine the pressure and the feeling of loss when you know that all your ancestors before you spoke this language and you’re the only one that can keep it alive, you’re the only one that can keep that history and culture in tact. Wow.
