Determined Couple Built A Self-Sustaining Island Home
This Canadian couple, Wayne Adams and Catherine King, spent 20 years creating their very own island just a half-hour boat ride from Tofino, British Columbia.
They began back in 1992, and over time they have created a home like no other.
What you see is made entirely our of recycled materials. They have named it Freedom Cove.
It is made up of 12 large platforms connected to one another through carefully assembled planks of wood and metal
The couple, who have two kids, are completely self-sufficient, growing their own crops in greenhouses. They are also off the grid.
Solar panels are used for electricity and for water they collect the rain and use local, natural resources.
It’s basically a man-made floating farm. Tourists are even welcome to visit.
The pair are both artists.
Going on Bear Grylls, The Island, would be a piece of cake for these guys.
