Jamelia Sparks Outrage After Her Comments On Plus-Sized Clothing

Jamelia has been forced into to apologise for insisting shops should not stock clothes for plus size women.

Her opinion came as part of a discussion about overweight teenagers, with Jamelia saying she does not believe shops should be facilitating an unhealthy lifestyle.

She said: ‘I don’t believe stores should stock clothes below or above a certain weight. They should be made to feel uncomfortable when they go in and can’t find a size.’

Almost immediately she felt the wrath of Twitter users .

Jamelia later posted a tweet that suggested she felt people had misunderstood what she was trying to say.

She was forced to explain herself further on Good Morning Britain earlier today, saying: I didn’t make it clear on the show that I was talking about extremes, I was talking about above size 20 and below size six, those sizes being available en masse,”

“Knowing that I offended people really upset me. Knowing that I made people question themselves and their choices, it really did upset me. All I can do is apologise for that.'”

She later added. “I do stand by what I said. I’m a real woman with real opinions. I get paid to voice my opinions. It’s been absolutely awful but this is my job. I believe we are all entitled to our opinion.”

“I genuinely love people and believe everyone has the right to feel wonderful and feel beautiful and it was never my intention to make people feel any less than what they are.”
