This Is How A Power Nap Makes You Five Times Better

Quick everyone, we’re all going back to bed! For science!

So you’re at work. You had to wake up at the cruellest hour possible that you can only assume was implemented as some kind of sadistic joke by your boss. You’re struggling to keep those eyes open but you’re fighting a losing battle.

Don’t bother. Rest your sleepy head and get an hours kip. 45 minutes at the very least. It’s good for you.

This wondrous revelation which you should be exploiting comes after graduate student, Sara Studte, taught 41 students 90 words and 120 unrelated word pairs. Half of the 41 (???) we’re allowed to take a nap before being quizzed whereas the others had to keep their sorry eyes open.

You guessed it, the students that were allowed to nap showed far better information recall than the other 20.5.

‘Wherever people are in a learning environment, we should think seriously about the positive effects of sleep. Even a short sleep lasting 45 to 60 minutes produces a five-fold improvement in information retrieval from memory.’ -Professor Axel Mecklinger – study supervisor

So get those eyes shut and keep your computer open on this page. That way people will get the message. You’ll probably get promoted.

What do you think to extra sleep? Yay or nay? Let us know in the comments.
