Russell Crowe did one of those long and whimsical interviews with The Guardian and it was all pretty standard stuff, until he revealed how Michael Jackson used to prank call him. Even though the two had never met Jackson singled out Crowe for special attention.

Crowe is talking about the height of his fame when he says:

“For two or three f**king years, I never met him, never shook his hand, but he found out the name I stayed in hotels under, so it didn’t matter where I was, he’d ring up do this kind of thing, like you did when you were 10, you know. ‘Is Mr Wall there? Is Mrs Wall there? Are there any Walls there? Then what’s holding the roof up? Ha ha.’ You’re supposed to grow out of doing that, right?”

We know very little about what Michael Jackson was really like. There are enough rumours to fill a library, but very few people actually knew the man himself. To think of him making childish prank calls certainly brings a smile to the face.

Russell is busy promoting his upcoming film The Water Diviner which is released in the UK on April 3rd, here’s the trailer.
