Jeremy Clarkson Offered Millions For Lucrative Commentary Role
Jeremy Clarkson has been offered a sensational return to our screens by Sky as a co-commentator for the Mayweather V Pacquiao fight on May 2nd.
The upcoming showdown is the most eagerly anticipated in decades and predictions suggest that it will be the highest grossing fight in history. As if the hype wasn’t already enough, now we have the prospect of Jeremy Clarkson chipping in with his thoughts.
It’s believed that Sky have offered Clarkson £1.3 million to sit in the studio with other pundits and provide his thoughts on the action between rounds.
Sky Box Office will be charging customers £24.95 to watch the bout, the most expensive boxing match in UK pay-per-view boxing history.
A spokesperson said:
“This is the most anticipated boxing match most of us will have ever seen. Sky want to make sure their coverage is exceptional and having Jeremy on board will contribute towards that. We’re all aware of Jeremy’s recent difficulties but that doesn’t come into play here, if anything his recent actions make him even more desirable to Sky’s audience.”
Clarkson is yet to offer any comment but it is believed to be ready to accept the deal. Sky want their line-up to be set in stone three weeks before the main event. With the fight being on May 2nd, and today being April 1st, that leaves him 10 days to make a decision.
One thing that may sway Jeremy is the exceptional hospitality that Sky offer. All of their crew are said to be expecting a three course meal at the MGM Grand after the conclusion of the fight.
