Ed Sheeran Launches His Own Record Label, Chooses The Perfect Name

Ed Sheeran has taken the next step in his career and decided to set up his own music label. The name of it? Gingerbread, of course.

The incredibly popular ginger made the announcement while on his tour of Australia.

Ed has already signed up Jamie Lawson, who was clearly delighted to be the first name on the books.

Ed told Nova FM:

“I’ve set up my first record label, it’s called Gingerbread and Jamie Lawson is my first signing. I wanted Australia to be the launch pad because Australia is a country that I feel would really really dig Jamie. There are people on that scene who make me look terrible by just being so good.”

“They haven’t got the right platform. I have a tour and Twitter, so I can put them in front of my fans instantly. I can sit down with heads of radio stations and ask whether they’ll play it on the radio. I’m in a really fortunate position to be able to break acts.”

Yet again Ed is showing his sense of humour and also this time a little bit of business too. Having his backing is surely going to be a great leg-up for any music industry hopeful.

This YouTube video of Jamie’s will give you a taste of what to expect. It’s a few years old now but has racked up over half a million views.
