Meet The New Cannabis Political Party Intent On Reforming UK Law

Large chunks of the US has done it. Holland has done it. Jamaica, Colombia and Costa Rica have all done it. Will the UK be the next country to legalise weed?

These guys are certainly hoping so. A new cannabis political party has been launched in the UK in the hope of legalising the class B drug.

Cista, which stands for Cannabis is Safer than Alcohol, want to legalise weed in the UK as they believe that the so-called “war on drugs” is only benefiting criminals. That and they probably enjoy getting high.

So far the legalisation has turned out to be a good move for the US. The legalisation of medicinal-use cannabis in Colorado is a big earner for the government, and has helped them collect more than $40 million in tax revenue already.

Cista are predicting that more than £900 million could be raised by legalising the class B drug in the UK. They also suggest that if the government choose to regulate and tax the substance, it could cut the national deficit by £1.25 billion. Did you hear that, George Osborne?

A part spokesman told The Independent.

“Decades of criminalising use of cannabis have failed on every front. Across the world, countries are properly redrafting laws relating to cannabis use with benefits for the economy, public health and levels of crime. Cista exists to replicate this success. Our candidates during the 2015 Elections will be campaigning for a Royal Commission to review Britain’s drug laws.”

These guys are taking it so seriously they have gone and knocked up some graphs to show how much more damaging alcohol is than marijuana, particularly when it comes to physical injuries and economic costs.

CISTA are hoping to run in the upcoming election with 100 candidates but have only five at the moment. So if you have any desires to get into politics and think weed should be made legal then now could be your time.

Tell us your opinion in the comments, would you vote for CISTA?
