Here’s What Would Happen If A Huge Asteroid Actually Hit Earth, And It’s Terrifying

Here’s what it would look like if a cataclysmic event were to happen on planet Earth tomorrow. Earth has shown itself to be pretty resilient over the years. having survived several major mass extinctions. The most recent, the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction some 66 million years ago.

But what if an asteroid with a diameter of 500 km landed in the Pacific Ocean in this day and age? 7 billion of us live on the planet today. If it took at least 90% of life — as it did with the dinosaurs — over 6 billion people would vanish into ash and fire. This large Asteroid Impact Simulation paints a vivid picture of what would actually occur if a large asteroid were to hit our planet.

Don’t worry though guys, this is just a simulation. If something like this was to happy we’re sure Will Smith, Bruce Willis or some other total legend will save the day. Right?
