Jennifer Lawrence Is Still The Biggest Star In Hollywood
“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1” made history by becoming the top-grossing movie released in 2014. It was announced Thursday that “Mockingjay” had reached $333.2 million at the US box office, meaning it surpassed “Guardians of the Galaxy” for highest grossing film of last year.
Jennifer Lawrence may be experiencing some déjà vu as it’s the second year in a row she has played the lead role in the most successful film. In 2013 “Catching Fire” beat “Iron Man 3” to become the year’s biggest release. This is also the first time in box office history that two films in a franchise became No. 1, not even Harry Potter, Twilight or Lord Of The Rings have achieved this.
There are no signs of her success holding up. “”Mockingjay – Part 2” is currently in its post production stage and will be released at the end of this year. She is also expected to begin filming next month for “Joy,” the story of a single mum who became a successful entrepreneur. Looking even further ahead she will be featuring in “X-Men – Apocalypse” to be released in 2016.
She may have claimed Hollywood’s crown but Lawrence never hit the number one spot here in the UK, that accolade went to Peter Jackson’s conclusion of The Hobbit trilogy.
