Meet The 9 Regular People Behind The Most Famous Internet Memes On The Planet

You will probably be pretty familiar with these 9 memes. If not, then welcome to the Internet, where have you been? It’s quite weird to think is that these guys aren’t Simpson’s characters and they do grow older. Here is a little peek at the person (and in once case cat) behind the meme.

1. Bad Luck Brian

His real name is Kyle and it’s his 7th grade year book photo that his friend thought would be funny turned into a meme. He now makes funny YouTube videos and has his own Facebook page. Kyle recently submitted this photo to Reddit, he looks a little different nowadays.

 2. The Overly Attached Girlfriend

It all started as a screen grab pulled from her YouTube video singing Justin Bieber’s song ‘Girlfriend’… and the rest as they say is history. Her real name is Laina Walker and she currently makes YouTube videos. Check out her channel.

 3. Scumbag Steve

His real name is Blake Boston and the original photo was taken by his mum when he was 16 (might explain the less than impressed expression). Blake is now a happy father and is currently pursuing his music career. You can visit his YouTube channel here

4. Grumpy Cat

Grumpy Cat’s owner, Tabatha Bundesen, says that her permanently grumpy-looking face is due to feline dwarfism. The cats real name is Tardar Sauce or ‘Tard’ and became famous when Bundesen’s brother Bryan, submitted a photo to Reddit on September 22, 2012. It was recently announced that Grumpy Cat has made its owner a cool £64 million.

5. Ermahgerd

The ‘Goosebumps’ girl’s real name is Maggie, and she has a passion for travel. That’s really all we know about her. The below photo is believed to be her.

6. Success Kid

The original image was taken by photographer Laney Griner of her then 11-month-old son Sammy back in 2007. The meme is sometimes known as I Hate Sandcastles. And here he is now. Laney Griner will sometimes post photos of Sammy on her Twitter account.

 7. Sudden Clarity Clarence

The original photo was submitted to the Australia Associated Press covering the  Schoolies festival in Australia. In November 2011 he got introduced to Reddit as “Sudden Clarity Clarence” that included an image macro with the caption “Oh my God / dubstep sucks.” He’s had a lot of revelations since then.

His real name is Will G and he is from southern California.

8. Sceptical baby

The photo you see below was taken at the Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh, North Carolina, by Jarod Knoten. In the photo is father and son, Dave and Mason. After being submitted to Reddit it spread like crazy.

9. Stoner Stanley

The photo originally surfacced in 2011 of a young red faced kid. The image was resubmitted the same day with the text overlay….“Texts the person next to them / ‘I want hopsital’”. The meme then started showing up in every corner of the Internet.

Here are some additional photos of him. Other than the origin of the meme, there’s not much on who the guy is, or what he does. We do know, however, that the guy has a face full of expressions.
