Harry Potter Fans, Your Wildest Dreams Have Just Come True
Waking up in the morning and realising that your Hogwarts acceptance letter was all just a dream can be disheartening. But now there is a chance it could become reality, Harry Potter fans now have the opportunity to attend a different wizardry school early next year.
Polish company Liveform and Rollespilsfabrikken staged a Live Action Role Play event based on the Harry Potter book series and movie franchise in November. Around 190 participants from 11 countries travelled to Poland to put on wizard robes and cast spells at the Czocha College of Witchcraft and Wizardry – with spaces selling out in just two days. If you missed out and want to get involved, sign ups for next year start today.
Instead of creating an exact replica of Hogwarts, organisers invented a new school based on the famous wizarding school from the novels, at the Polish castle of Czocha.
Students who attend are organised into five houses (Durentius, Faust, Libussa, Molin and Sendivogius), instead of the four that we are familiar with. There are three years of students, Juniors, Sophomores and Seniors and all are given the option of five different career paths: Aurors, Curse Breakers, Healers, Magizoologists and The Unspeakables.
The organiser’s website states that “It’s essentially the same as when kids use curtains as robes and sticks as wands and run around pretending to be witches and wizards – except we’re grownups with nicer costumes and a lot of experience in designing interactive experiences for each other”.
So, how much does it cost to live the dream? The four day event is around £220, with prices are inclusive of food and accommodation. You are also provided with a wizard robe, a study book and a house tie during your stay. Sounds magic.
