Woman Responds To Online Rape Threats By Contacting The Mothers Of The Men Who Send Them

Australian game reviewer Alanah Pearce knows has experienced first-hand the kind of horrendous comments that many women receive online. She knows that a reply from her own keyboard probably wouldn’t carry much weight, so she’s been responding to rape threats in the best way possible: by contacting the jerks’ mothers via Facebook. It’s easy enough to find them just by looking on the guys’ profiles, and Alanah has now gotten a hold of four moms. Most of them don’t respond, but one mom did reply.

Alanah’s tweet depicting the conversation has been retweeted and favorited thousands of times, and it’s easy to see why: this response to a terrible threat is one of the most satisfying things I’ve seen in a long time.

Hopefully, if we can’t stop people online from saying such awful things, their mothers will.
