Did Sainsbury's Just Win The Battle Of The Christmas Ads?

Share

Christmas adverts are a big thing nowadays, and Sainsbury’s may have just stolen the show with this effort. Sainsbury’s chose to neglect CGI and product placement to tell the story of the Christmas truce on the Western Front during World War One.

It is very fitting as the Great War’s centenary was marked this year. The ad takes place entirely in the trenches, as soldiers on opposing sides down arms to play a game of football.

Yes they’re still trying to get us to buy mince pies and carrots etc. but as commercials for supermarkets go it’s incredibly moving. It’s all very refreshing, now pass us some tissues.
