The Most Unusual Road In The World May Make Your Stomach Curdle
The Atlantic Ocean Road spans 5.2 miles across an archipelago on Norway’s western coast. The road took over six years to build and connects the island of Averøy with the mainland. It is thought to be one of the most dangerous roads in the world.
In addition to having a reputation as perilously risky, it has also been classified as both a cultural heritage site and one of 18 National Tourist Routes in the country. It was also awarded the title of “Norwegian Construction of the Century”. The route consists of eight bridges and four viewpoints and has many dining, fishing, and resort establishments built along it. This is Norway’s most popular visitor attraction.
