Sophia Bush Went On A Fashion Rampage

One Tree Hill star Sophia Bush has declared war on Urban Outfitters after they marketed a t-shirt with the slogan ‘Eat Less’ on the front.

Sophia aired her distaste on her personal blog, calling for Urban Outfitters to issue an apology as well as make a donation to a charity for eating disorders. She said “it’s like handing a suicidal person a loaded gun. You should know better.”

Sophia wrote. “To promote starvation? To promote anorexia which leads to heart disease, bone density loss, and a slew of health problems. not least of all psychological issues that NEVER go away? Shame on you, I will no longer be shopping at your stores. And I will encourage tens of thousand of female supporters I have to do the same.”

This story has gone viral in the States and as you read this the PR team at Urban Outfitters are probably working overtime and mopping sweaty brows as they try and resolve the situation.

It’s unlikely, bordering on unthinkable, that Urban Outfitters did this on purpose. Any negative connotations from the message on the shirt are most likely an oversight that just never got picked up on – or viewed from the perspective that Sophia has. But then again, if you choose a super slim model and stick her in a t-shirt that says ‘eat less,’ what else could you be aiming for?

Tell us what you think. Is it all an over reaction? Or has Sophia Bush just hit the nail on the head?

UPDATE: A Spokesperson from Urban Outfitters has contacted helloU and made the below statement

“Urban Outfitters no longer carries the Eat Less t-shirt. This item was originally sold in 2010 and was removed immediately from our website and all stores after complaints of the tee were brought to our attention four years ago. It was never our intention to offend our customers nor do we support the negative message the shirt may have portrayed.”
