Oscar Pistorious Found Guilty Of Culpable Homicide
Oscar Pistorious has been found guilty of culpable homicide, meaning that he could be facing up to 15 years in Prison, but he could also avoid prison completely. Culpable homicide is the South African equivalent of manslaughter. The decision was announced early on Friday morning.
Judge Thokozile Masipa cleared him of murder on Thursday, saying the state had failed to prove he intended to kill the model Reeva Steenkamp last year.
Oscar shot Reeve Steenkamp on valentines day last year, with the trial beginning in March of this year. Mr Pistorius admits firing through a toilet door at his home but says he mistook Ms Steenkamp for an intruder.
Oscar has painted an emotional picture during the trial, regularly breaking down in tears and yesterday the judge called him an ‘evasive’ witness.
