These Two 700 Year Old Skeletons Have A Romantic Secret

This is a great argument for true  romance never dying. A couple who have been holding hands for 700 years have been uncovered at a ‘lost’ chapel in Leicestershire.

Carbon dating revealed that the lovers, along with seven other skeletons found in the area, are from the 14th century, but not much else is known about them.

The pair were buried with stones covering their bodies, which according to expert archaeologists was traditional with Eastern Europeans.

The chapel may have been an area of pilgrimage. Alternatively, the bodies might have been refused burial in the main church, perhaps because they were criminals, foreigners or sick.

There is a hope that the couple will ‘fill in gaps’ between the Middle Ages and The Roman Empire. when little known about lifestyle and burial.
