A paralysed man suffering from ALS has become the first person with the disease to take part in the growing ice bucket challenge craze that is flooding social media.

David McClain, from New Haven, Connecticut, wanted to be the first person with the nerve cell disease to have ice poured over his head. David is  permanently attached to a ventilator and unable to eat, drink, speak or move.

He chose ice cubes shaped like Texas as he was originally born there.

We think this is the best ice bucket challenge yet, it hits you right in the feels.
