Apparently This Is How We Punish A Driver Who Skips A Red Light And Leaves A Victim In A Coma
The devastated family of a teenager who received life-changing injuries, after a car jumped a red light and hit her, are hoping for a law change after being told the driver just faces a fine and points on his license.
Miriam Parker, 18, was in a coma for a month following the collision at a pelican crossing in South Croydon on New Year’s Day. Despite defying doctors’ warnings she might die, she is alive but will need round-the-clock care for the rest of her life..
The crash left the teenager, with a severe brain injury and reduced mobility, leaving her unable to return to her family’s home in Charlston when she leaves the Children’s Trust centre in Tadwort, where she has been undergoing intensive rehabilitation since leaving hospital in March.
